Dear Avi,

I too the liberty to add JUS volumes 1-4 to the HCI Bibliography.
Please let me know whether that's okay.

Here is a link to the latest complete volume's contents:
 	http://www.hcibib.org/bibtoc.cgi?file=bibdata/JUS04.bib&abstracts=true

Here is a link to fetch all the articles:

There are some bibliometrics in the Limits section.

Hi All,

When I harvesting the data, I noticed that the PDF file names were the same
as the html files, but ending in "pdf". That's easy, I thought. But, of course,
you are right, Susan. Volumes 3 on use a different scheme, and one that was
fun for me to marvel at the inconsistency: a number here, no number there,
upper case in some, lower case in others. So I changed the harvester to pick up
the links from inside the html files rather than inferred from the file name.

So all the links to PDF now work.

That might be the opposite of what you wanted. I can pull the PDF and even the
HTML links out temporarily immediately, if you want. I'd prefer to leave them
in until they break and fix them then.

I can change the copyright lines (currently "UPA and Author").

I can also provide metadata to you, in case that would be useful,
although (you'll be happy to hear), I found no spelling errors
to correct in the four volumes (something I usually find in proceedings
and even journals).

Gary

Sounds fine. If you can tell me when the URLs for the PDFs change,
that would be helpful, and if you can tell me what they change to,
that would be even more helpful.

Or, I really should run a link checker on all the article links,
and that would tell me if they suddently broke.

Hi Jared,

Thinking about the following, I thought of you, Jakob, and Deborah.
I was thinking of sending it to CHI-Announcements for a free-for-all,
or make it a thought-for-the-day on www.hcibib.org, but maybe a
smaller audience is better.

I don't know if Deborah has the resources, but I strongly suspect
that Jakob would, and that you could, but maybe not the time.

So here is the idea:

Does hiring HCI-types make a company more successful?

While I was looking at some of the changes to Garmin GPS models (I use one for the
car and one for hiking), I thought I recalled seeing a posting on CHI-JOBS.
That made me wonder if, say, a year after a job post appears on CHI-JOBS,
there is an improvement to the usability of the posting company's products,
reflected in improved sales, reflected in an increase in stock price (compared
to the market average for the sector--something to factor out marketwide fluctuations).
 		http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=GRMN (Garmin stock on NASDAQ)
Of course, there are other metrics, such as market share and absolute sales.

Not all CHI-JOBS postings come from publicly traded companies,
but with over 10 years of data on CHI-JOBS postings at:
 		http://listserv.acm.org/scripts/wa.exe?A0=CHI-JOBS
there should be enough data to see if posting to CHI-JOBS is a good sign.

If there is a positive relationship between posting to CHI-JOBS and stock price,
it would suggest an investment strategy, one that might hold even if the
strategy were known (assuming that the postings are legitimate).

You could do an analysis based on your own customers,
which could be a great promotional tool, or sobering feedback.
I suspect that the analysis is not necessarily that daunting,
because each company is a separate case.

So sorry. I really should make a new release, but have not
taken the time in 15 years.

The compiled binary that I use on linux is here:

http://hcibib.org/perlman/stat/form/perm

and you can replace "perm" with any program name for others.
I don't know if "all linuxes are equal", so I don't know if
mine will run on your Red Hat enterprise linux.

Let me know if you need more help.

Gary
