I am thinking about organizing an Argus trip to Columbus, which would
include a visit to OCLC. At this point, Friday February 2 is the
first choice. Very rough tho.

Would this be a good day to visit for you? I am think we would also
want to visit members of the Dublin Core team. And probably others
there as well. But you are first on my list.

Purpose: just to chat, we tell each other what we do.

Keith

Hi Gary, we talked earlier about some of us from Argus coming down to
OCLC to visit. Does the offer still stand?

Hi Erik, you do not know me, but you know Lou.

What's the point of the visit? Several:

I wanna catch up with you, Gary, see what you are up to.

Others here are interested in learning about Dublin Core and others
things you might be doing, Erik. In particular, how it fits in with
the types of information architecture projects we do.

We'd be happy to "put on a show" and present something about IA. I
suspect we have some fans among the library scientists there. (^:

And whatever agenda item you want to cover, whatever things you would
like to accomplish with a visit.

But, in general, people around here would just be happy to come and
get a tour, met some people, the generic stuff. That may be the least
work for you: it is not really polite to invite your over to visit
and then ask for your host to do a lot of work.

It could be a whole afternoon, if we had it planned out enough. It is
2 hours from AA (but only 2 for me in Toledo). Or just a few hours.

One possibility, if people here want to stay later, is to have the
trip on March 13th, and then do a BUCKCHI presentation that evening.
I am game for staying that late, but others here may not, so we
should not limit ourselves to only the 13th.

So, I am still in the data-gathering mode. What dates would work well
for you? Looking at our calendars, Monday Feb 26 & Wed Feb 28 might
also work, but there will always be someone here who will get left
out, I suspect.

Keith

OK, it looks like March 12 is a pretty good date. Let's mark that on
our calendars.

I suspect we would be able to arrive around lunch time, so maybe
starting off with an informal gathering to eat would be good. (We
might get there before lunch, but we could just keep that slot for
informal stuff.)

We could then schedule the fixed meeting times in the afternoon to be
safe. An hour or 1.5 hour presentation by us would be included in
that. Other things at your discretion, but we will have a few things
we are intersted in (have not compiled that list yet).

Thanks for your interest so far! Looking forward to it. If you have
any questions, let me know. We are going to knock heads here next to
talk about what we want to present and what we want to learn during
our road trip.

Keith
