I couldn't quite figure that one out. What I meant was that when I use SSH from my Windows desktop to access turing, I have a shell window and I can click on an icon to open up a file transfer window. When I was connected to perlman.hosting.acm.org, I clicked on the icon and the file tranfer window opened but never connected. I am using the Windows ssh client from ssh.com.

Basically, I would like to drag and drop directories from turing to the new host.

I do not know about MX records, but I guess that can wait.

The terminal window is already connected on port 7822, but the file transfer window is not listing files.

Thanks for following up, Adam.

I think Tectia is their commercial product. I'm guessing that it would cost money, so I might get it for the 45-day trial period for file transfers. Longer term, I guess I'll switch to something like http://www.putty.org/ (rather than devote time to finding fix for my ancient SSH client. Of course, putty might not offer a gui file transfer option. Can you suggest a free alternative?

Maybe I could use ftp? I tried to connect to perlman.hosting.acm.org, but I could not connect. Maybe I was using the wrong port to perlman.hosting.acm.org, but I could not connect. Maybe I was using the wrong port.

Gary

Aha! This worked for the host field in FileZilla:

sftp://perlman.hosting.acm.org

Now I can get started on the move.

Longer term, I guess I'll switch to something like http://www.putty.org/ (rather than devote time to finding fix for my ancient SSH client. Of course, putty might not offer a gui file transfer option. Can you suggest a free alternative?

What I meant was that when I use SSH from my Windows desktop to access turing, I have a shell window and I can click on an icon to open up a file transfer window. When I was connected to perlman.hosting.acm.org, I clicked on the icon and the file tranfer window opened but never connected. I am using the Windows ssh client from ssh.com.

Dear Costin,

My apologies for not responding sooner. My health situation does not permit me to commit to any additional professional activities. I am not confident that I could be useful as part of the RoCHI steering committee or as a PC member. If you have the need and want to list me as a passive but supportive member of a committee, I have no objection, but please list my affiliation as the HCI Bibliography as I am no longer affilated with OCLC.

Best wishes,

Gary
